There is a picture book series and a board book series for younger toddlers.īears on Chairs Series by Shirley Parenteau illustrated by David Walker, 2009 Short rhymes and cute illustrations make this series a classic. My favorites are Llama Llama Time to Share and Nelly Gnu and Daddy Too. I actually didn’t love the first book in the series, Llama Llama Red Pajama, because I thought it would make my own son afraid of going to bed, but I absolutely adore every other book in the series. Llama Llama Red Pajama ( Llama Llama series) by Anna Dewdney, 2005 This series appears in many different formats including picture books, board books, and lift the flap versions. Since so many different topics are covered in a child-friendly way, this series not only makes for an entertaining read aloud, but also serves as a nice way to prepare children for a new experience. Toddlers will delight in watching Maisy and her friends experience many of the same activities they do including bedtime, getting dressed, going on vacation, swimming, etc. The Maisy series features the adventures of an adorable little mouse. Here are a few of our favorites for toddlers ready to move up to “big kid” books. They also love books that illustrate a song. Children this age usually gravitate toward books with bright pictures, sparse text, and a story with a simple plot. Once toddlers are ready to move from board books to picture books, it can be difficult to find the perfect picture book that keeps their attention.
